Hello Everyone,
I am sure you all woke up this morning with a sense of excitement as we get ready for the 1st game of the senior men cricket league. Hopefully weather will support us to have a game of cricket today.
As we approach the season, I will like to highlight to welcome all members to the club and want to remind you of some key points that we all need to be aware of.
1. Slough CC is one of the oldest and biggest club we have in Berkshire and has got one of the best facilities. It's our duty to protect it and pass it on to the next generation as our previous generations have done to us.
2. We have more than 350 members across different sections and it's not easy to manage it with few volunteers without the effective use of tools and technology we have. Please use play-cricket, Pitchero, our website to get up to date information and also to enable selection process. Also please get yourself involved in running and supporting the club as it takes lot of effort to run it effectively.
2. Please remember that you are playing for Slough Cricket Club first, then to your team and to yourself.
3. Play the game in the right spirit and respect the team members, officials and oppositions. We all play with emotions, but remember your actions will have direct impact on the brand of Slough Cricket Club. You are all responsible for ensuring we build a positive brand for Slough CC.
4. Always support your team and captains by being on time for the games and practice sessions, supporting with covers, warm-ups, scoreboard and any other match day duties. Don't sit in the dressing room when your captain and some of the players are on the field working, it's rude and unacceptable behaviour.
5. Most importantly enjoy the game of cricket as you only have 18 weeks and always put in efforts required as no one can guarantee the results. Though I will like to say win the league, the objective should be to enjoy the cricket and play as a team, winning the league is the by-product of this.
Also wanted to let you know if you haven't paid your membership yet, please get that paid soon. As you all know we have more taken nearly £90k loan from members to construct the 3rd ground, though we have repaid as much as we can, there is still £60k to paid and cash flow situation is not as expected. Your support is needed to pay on time and also look for any sponsorship for the club.
We haven't managed to progress on the 3rd ground work as much as we expected due to the weather condition so far, and it could have an impact to the fixtures of our 6th and academy teams. We are trying hard to identify potential alternatives to minimise the impact. We will keep you updated on this.
As I end this note, just want to wish you all a great success this season. All the best!
Thanks,
Goutham
Chairman, Slough CC
