Roles and Responsibilities Season 2023

Roles and Duties of Slough Cricket Club's Youth Coordinator

  • Serve as the sole point of contact for all correspondence related to Youth league and ECB Cup fixtures on behalf of Slough Cricket Club(SCC)
  • Determine the number of teams SCC should field in competitions to ensure maximum participation and development opportunities for our youth players
  • Coordinate with other league member clubs to schedule fixtures as per league guidelines.
  • Communicate agreed-upon fixtures and any changes to SCC's Fixtures Secretary.
  • Ensure that all youth fixtures for SCC are accurately entered into the Play Cricket system for public display and tracking.
  • Assist in assigning players to appropriate teams or squads and contribute to the selection process for matches.
  • Collect feedback from team managers to help shape player development and training programs.
  • Collaborate with SCC and parents to identify promising youth players who should be considered for County trials.
  • Develop and maintain a framework that outlines the developmental pathway for SCC youth players.
  • Coordinate with the Open Age Cricket Selection Committee to create a seamless transition path for colts (young players) to participate in the senior league.

Roles and Duties of Slough Cricket Club's Youth Team Manager

  • Fulfilling the ECB's mandate that the manager undergo a DBS check for security and trustworthiness.
  • Acting as the primary liaison between Slough Cricket Club and parents on match days.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for the opposing team's manager during match days.
  • Promptly updating Slough Cricket Club's Youth Coordinator regarding any game cancellations or changes received from the opposition.
  • Ensuring that the Slough Cricket Club team adheres to the spirit and ethics of the game, both on and off the field.
  • Coordinating refreshments for both teams during home games, either between innings or more frequently in hot conditions.
  • Taking immediate and appropriate action to communicate with parents should any Slough Cricket Club youth report potential misconduct or abuse during play.
  • Arriving at the match venue at least 30 minutes prior to the game's start time for proper preparation.
  • Designating a scorekeeper for the match, who could be a player, a parent, or a club member, to maintain accurate records of the game.
  • Ensuring that per league regulations, the team provides its own qualified umpire, who ideally should not be the team manager.
  • Familiarizing oneself with Slough Cricket Club's policies related to youth transportation for complete compliance.
